BILLINGS- In a world constantly on the move eating healthy can sometimes be thrown to the wayside for convenience and cost. At least, that's what a few new studies with alarming statistics are suggesting.

Earlier this month the United States Department of Agriculture released that as many as half of all American adults are eating at restaurants three or more times a week.

The same study also attributed one-third of all calories consumed in the United States to restaurant food.

And then in the past week, a health journal, Public Health Nutrition, released the results of an 18-month study conducted by Rand Corp. which concluded that 96% of main restaurant entrees at nearly 250 chain restaurants exceeded USDA suggested daily limits for calories, sodium, fat and saturated fat.

All of this information comes on the heels of a study conducted by Duke University which points to a rapidly rising obesity rate in the United States.

The study, which used statistics from the Center of Disease Control, estimated that by the year 2030, 48% of the American population will be considered obese.

In light of these mounting and alarming statistics, a common question arises: how can you eat a balanced diet while eating in restaurants?

"The first thing to think about is what you're drinking," says Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell of Vitality Health and Wellness in Billings said. "That's probably the easiest way to either add or subtract calories from your meal."

Mitchell also says it's time for Americans to cut down on carbohydrates.

As a nation, the chiropractor says a typical American consumes 20 times the amount of carbohydrates they need for a balanced diet.

Australian right-handed batsman Luke Pomersbach, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL and has had a history of brawls and brush with police in his country and was arrested on Friday in a molestation case today appeared before a court in Delhi.

"I am innocent and it's a

On Friday, Pomersbach was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar, under whose jurisdiction the hotel, where the incident happened, falls. But, the case was transferred to a Mahila Court (court for women) on the ground that it was a molestation case.

The court, while granting bail, directed the Delhi Police to secure the CCTV footage from the hotel along with the medical report of Peerzada.

While narrating the incident to the court, the woman said, “He (Peerzada) just tried to save me and that’s how he got hurt.” She also told the court that she has been threatened to withdraw her complaint. The police said that the victim has informed them about the threat and they are verifying the details.

Drama ensued during the proceedings before the court, as Pomersbach fainted and had to be taken out of the packed courtroom. The police gave him water after which he recovered.

Pomersbach is alleged to have molested the woman, Zohail Hameed, at the ITC Maurya hotel in New Delhi. Her fiance Sahil Peerzada, who is in his 30s, was beaten up by the player when he tried to stop him and was admitted to Primus Hospital in the diplomatic area of the national capital, police said.
<img

Is US-India relationship losing steam? - Livemint

Was the US-India strategic partnership oversold to the extent that it has failed to yield tangible benefits for the US? An increasing number of American analysts argue that indeed is the case. These sceptics cite two high-visibility issues in particular: India’s rejection of separate bids by Lockheed Martin Corp. and Boeing Co. to sell 126 fighter jets, and New Delhi’s reluctance to snap energy ties with Iran. The discussion over these issues, however, obscures key facts.

Take the aircraft deal. Despite that setback, US firms have clinched several other multi-billion -dollar arms deals in recent years. These contracts have been secured on a government-to-government basis, without any competitive bidding. But in the one case where India invited bids, American firms failed to make it beyond the competition’s first round.

Shyamal Banerjee/Mint
The most startling yet little-publicized fact is America’s quiet emergence as the largest arms seller to India. In the decade since president George W. Bush launched the US-India strategic partnership, India has fundamentally reoriented its defence procurement, moving away from its traditional reliance on Russia. Indeed, nearly half of all Indian defence deals by value in recent years have been bagged by the US alone, with Israel a distant second and Russia relegated to the third slot.
Now consider the Iran issue. Just as the Indian rejection of the Boeing’s F/A-18 and Lockheed Martin’s F-16 bids has made big news the US landing of multiple arms contracts has received little notice, India’s reluctance to publicly support US energy sanctions on Iran has been in the spotlight, but not the quiet Indian strategy since the late 1990s to let the share of Iranian oil in India’s energy imports gradually decline—a trend that has seen the importance of Iranian oil supplies for

The 20th century had changed and changed again by the time the world rang in the new year of 1962. After two world wars and the Great Depression in between, the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union was icy. From Africa to Asia, former colonial territories were declaring independence.

The American civil rights movement was gathering force behind a charismatic young leader, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The nation’s first Roman Catholic president, John F. Kennedy, was inspiring the world.

Amid all those events, you could say the world in which we’re now living was born in 1962 as much as any year before or since – from the origin of satellite communications and the Internet to the emergence of church-state issues that are controversial to this day.

Most histories mark American military involvement in South Vietnam from Congress’s 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which opened the door to a massive escalation. But you could argue that for the U.S., the Vietnam War really started with “Operation Chopper.”

While President John F. Kennedy had already sent thousands of military advisers to the country, the U.S. took no combat role until Army helicopter pilots flew 1,000 South Vietnamese soldiers to attack a Communist Vietcong stronghold near Saigon in 1962.

By the time the war ended in 1973, 2.7 million service members had taken a tour of duty in Vietnam, and almost 58,000 had died.

	John Glenn’s flight: Feb. 20

NASA astronaut John Glenn wasn’t the first man to orbit the earth. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin did that, in 1961. But Glenn’s three orbits in his

The V-22 Osprey has more lives than a cat.

The unconventional helicopter that takes off like a copter, then flies like a plane, has been in the crosshairs more than once in its controversial career.

Of course its success is crucial here in Delaware County because it is created in part at Boeing’s Ridley Township plant. That means jobs. Lots of jobs.

This week the V-22 was once again under fire in Washington. An amendment being offered to the National Defense Authorization Act would have stripped funding for the craft, which is fast becoming a workhorse when it comes to transporting troops in and out of combat zones for the Marines.

The amendment was put up by Rep. Mike Quigley, D-Illinois, and Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill.

The House voted it down after hearing arguments from two Delco pols, Rep. Pat Meehan, R-7, and Rep.

As a nation, the chiropractor says a typical American consumes 20 times the amount of carbohydrates they need for a balanced diet.

When Mitchell consults patients experiencing pain, he says it's all too common that diet is a key factor.
